Our Client compromises three global design centres and is pivotal in the creation and delivery of future passenger and commercial vehicles. With the recent successes of their products, and a recent announcement of major funding for EV development, it is strengthening its global team with highly creative and driven design professionals to shape the future of motoring.
The UK facility is leading the development of new vehicle designs and assisting the parent company with the development of a coherent design language across product ranges.The Lead CAS Modeller will be responsible for advanced and production surfacing projects in ALIAS.
Key roles & responsibilities:
- Lead the CAS/Class A surfacing phase on UK based production programmes
- Manage the internal and external third party surfacing teams
- Interrogate engineering inputs, geometry and sections to understand the impact on surface design and quality
- Lead the cross functional surface quality review process
- Participate in integration meetings between engineering, design, program management and suppliers to ensure the right quality of inputs
- Participate in surface reference model and tooling reference model review process to identify surface quality issues
- Manage the surfacing transition process from the UK studio to other studios
- Daily liaison with studio engineering and the lead designer
- Provide technical information and support to senior management for design reviews.
- Plan and prioritise own workload as well as delegating workload
- Quickly solve problems and to act independently, make decisions under pressure and take responsibility for the outcome
- Work closely with overseas engineering and manufacturing teams to develop feasible CAS/Class surface data
- Take full ownership of quality and delivery timing targets
Candidate Specification
- demonstrate an advanced skillset in creative digital surface creation using Alias software
- have significant experience of working with engineering inputs
- have the ability to interpret design sketches to create surface proposals
- be able to integrate technical, engineering and manufacturing inputs
- build a good interface with DMO and provide supporting data for physical modelling
- have significant experience of working on both production and advanced concept programmes in the automotive industry
This position is confirmed Inside IR35 and will be on rolling 6 month fixed term contracts
