Our client based in Frankley, Birmingham, is searching for a Paint Shop Operative to join their team on a 37-hour working week, 07:00-16:45, Monday – Thursday.
Summary of position:
This role involves the preparation and painting of buoyancy modules manufactured from syntactic foams and will play a key role in the development of a new section of the business. The high level of finish required is similar to that in the automotive industry.
Primary Responsibilities / Key Accountabilities:
- Prepare materials for spraying Mask and protect parts not to be painted or coated.
- Fill cavities and dents with putty to attain smooth surface.
- De-nibbing and fine sanding – a time consuming yet crucial step as part of our 4-stage paint process.
- Mix paints according to specifications Select and mix coating liquid to produce desired colour.
- Paint surface using sprayer or brush as appropriate.
- Inspect painted units for quality of workmanship, noting any runs, sags and unpainted areas.
- Maintain tools and keep equipment clean and in proper state of repair.
- Maintain and wear all safety and health PPE, including respirator, as per manufacturer recommendations.
- Keep work area clean and tidy Comply with all laws and regulations pertaining to paint,
- thinners, and other hazardous materials. Report any deviations to management.
