Our OEM Client based in Gaydon, is searching for a Project Lead Engineer to join their team, Inside IR35. This is a maternity cover contract position with a proposed end date of 12th February 2027.
Umbrella Pay Rate: £33.64 per hour.
Duties:
This role is within the Vehicle Structures team as a Lead Engineer, reporting to the Technical Group Leader. The role will mainly focus on the delivery of HV battery enclosures, Frame, Lid, sealing and venting and bracketry.
Responsibility for ensuring all in-flight programmes are being delivered to the latest technical requirements and strategy. This will include ensuring efficient integration and compatibility of the structure, to deliver the necessary attribute targets.
As a Project Lead Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and development of components on a given platform during the delivery phase, with platform & project engineer responsibilities. Achieving targets for component/system cost, weight, NVH, dynamics, safety, and function into the Vehicle and Power Unit program teams, as well as making the design and tooling releases to suppliers.
Skills Required:
- Proven management capabilities with excellent execution skills and the ability to multitask.
- Highly experienced in HV Battery, Body or Subframe structural parts, and the associated delivery of these components.
- Experience in mechanical design of safety critical structural components.
- Proven ability to lead the engineering of components and systems in context within a complex team environment.
- Self-motivated and able to deliver with minimum supervision.
- Experience of component design to deliver performance attributes (durability, stiffness, NVH, weight, cost).
Education Required:
- Mechanical design background / structural engineering.
- Degree in Engineering or comparable qualification.
