Description

Our OEM Client based in Solihull, is searching for a Customer Quality Engineer to join their team, Inside IR35. This is a contract position with an end date of 31st March 2027.

Umbrella Pay Rate: £33.64 per hour.

Duties:

This role supports the product creation process from concept through end of life, focusing on the detection and resolution of Squeak & Rattle and Water issues across vehicles, systems, and components.

As part of the current car team, you will lead issue investigation and resolution to improve customer satisfaction, working cross‑functionally across design, manufacturing, durability fleet, and warranty. Using structured problem‑solving tools such as 8D, you will drive issues to closure, implement robust solutions, and support continuous improvement through physical vehicle testing on rigs and on test tracks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead issue resolution using 8D problem solving.
  • Manage work transparency using Agile tools (e.g. JIRA).
  • Deliver clear technical updates and reports to stakeholder.

Skills Required:

  • Automotive/Engineering degree or equivalent automotive experience preferred.
  • Demonstrable problem-solving experience e.g. Root Cause Analysis, 8D Disciplines of problem solving.
  • Demonstrate good negotiation skills to promote issues to next phase of investigation.
  • Knowledge and understanding of automotive manufacturing processes.
  • Demonstrate ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Highly motivated, fast learner and ability to easily handle multiple tasks.
  • A full clean UK driving licence.
  • Ability to deliver presentations to work groups and senior management.
  • Ability to analyse large data that translates into next actions.
  • Microsoft package elements such Power Point and Excel to an intermediate level.
  • Ability to Plan work/Events and organise detailed activity to deliver the outcomes.
  • Prior knowledge and experience in Squeaks & Rattle, Durability testing an advantage.

Education Required:

  • Automotive / Mechanical / Manufacturing Engineering degree.
